Where are the most anticipated videos???? I'm lost without that series.

I stopped reading all current Batman titles a while ago because I was not enjoying them. I did not go on twitter and insult anyone involved with those books. I just stopped reading them.

I agree with you. The person needs to figure out what kind of a comic book fan they are. I collect certain characters (the good or the bad), it's how you can compare the series, writer, and artist as they mature in their artistry.

I agree I don’t read anything I don’t like. That’s why I stopped reading 90% of marvel and DC. Most of my weakly is indies

I haven't bought comics in almost 2 months.

Personally, it’s been on and off with Spidey. When it’s bad, i don’t buy it. So i don’t buy Wells run. But if we are talking about the big 2 (marvel & DC) 98% as been pretty bad for at least 10 years now. The writing is often something someone in high school would wrote. Something average pass as good in today’s standards. So that may be why people are complaining more nowadays. As for the other publishers. They are mostly the same as they always were. Regarding spidey. If you look at what was written 10 years ago. It’s was number 700, then the superior spidey era and after the spider-verse era. It was huge time for spidey. We even got surprise side book that everyone thought would be bad but turned out awesome like the superiors foes of spider man. So it’s hard to get bigger. So it’s tuff to follow but it looks like Wells is not even trying.

I think unfortunately at a certain point when a character has been written for 60 years there’s is only so much you can do and it is just going to be stale no matter what. That’s why indies really standout and shine like Walking Dead Invincible and more recently Rook Exodus because they are fresh and new. So when I read a Spiderman or a Superman I just lower my expectations a bit

Let’s not forget RUclipsrs have been on the payroll lately for what ever reason they have been playing the safe role because they are scared to give negative reviews because they know they will be black listed from getting released information kind of like SCREENCRUSH so in a way disliking something should be a bad thing especially if the mass majority are in the same page!

The comic book community needs to come together and quit complaining. There's so many great books whether they're old or new. There's always a great comic to read at the end of the day.

I think we as fans have a right to complain when we don't like how our favorite books are being created. This has always been the case. I can remember reading letters pages all the way back when I first started reading comics and there were always complaints, as well as compliments. As fans, we have that right. We pay the money for the books. It's up to the creators to create content that appeals to as many fans as possible. The problem as I see it these days is that the creators often create books *they* want (often pushing an agenda or virtue signaling), rather than trying to write stories that appeal to us. That said, I don't want to hear negativity all the time either (about any subject), so I do my best to be as positive as I can, and just avoid talking about what I don't like unless I'm asked. Complaining means we still care. It's when we stop complaining that should worry fans of the hobby (and the creators).

When comic creators stop with the woke and the DEI and the politics and focus on creating fantasy worth reading again, id be more receptive! Stop with the forcing me to accept what I don’t believe. Supers saving the world from aliens, sorcery and adventure on high, spidey being a smart butt towards the hobgoblin venom kicking Spider-Man’s tail so on and so on.this is comics. Not gender affirmation or raping the punishers identity because military and police, actual heroes, adopted a fictional characters image. I’m sure I’ll be raked over the coals for this comment but hey who cares.

Comics appeal to our emotions so some people get emotional. Their friends are already tired of hearing it, so to the internet it goes!

What I love about being a very new comic book reader (just started this January) is that I’ll read discussion on a comic book I want to read and I’ll read over and over again, “we’ve seen this story arc a million times” and I just sit back and know I’m in for a treat because if it’s a story arc that is re hashed a lot, it means it’s probably a good one.

I grew up reading X-Men and came back for Hickman’s relaunch. That went downhill very quickly when he left and really showed me how important the writer is. So many Marvel/DC books scrap action and fun for nonsense slice of life. I’m all in on Ghost Machine line and Energon(minus Scarlet unfortunately) and anything Mark Millar drops. A lot of people are complaining in the hopes we can get good writers on these landmark books again. So many great artists are being wasted.

Good thoughts Mike. If I don't like something I will drop it quick, for example I only read the first Blood Hunt, it did not resonate with me so I did not buy any additional issues. But I did not complain about it. Like you with Spidey I have one exception and that is Black Widow. I love the Black Widow character, have read all the Black Widow comics, but I HATE she has a symbiote. Despite that, I continue to read her issues just so I can keep up with her journey and to hopefully see her lose the symbiote. I keep hoping Kelly Thompson comes back to get Natsha back how she should be.

I really do like your positivity, but criticism is detrimental to the business. Most big 2 books mirror our real-life world, and what we really want is escapism. Give us fantastical shit, not political identitties.

Even in the best years of comics there were still plethora of bad books to be found.

Honestly for me all I care about is good stories and good characters not bad stories that drive me insane but that’s just my opinion.

I’m a 51 year old fart. It is my right to complain when some of these books suck! I dropped amazing because it suuuuuuuuccckkks right now. I’ll pick it back up when we get another writer. I also dropped Batman because IMO it is no Bueno right now. I’m sure I’ll pick it up at some point but I’ve read so much bad. There’s good out there though. The hunt keeps me collecting. Don’t forget the indies out there. Especially crowd funding.)

Awesome shirt slayer! I’m reading almost everything spiderverse but ASM. If comics were 2 bucks a pop I’d say no big deal. When Marvel and DC are charging $4-$6 a floppy, comic BETTER be good. If someone online is calling someone whiny or too critical because they dislike or drop a series is petty. If someone’s pull list is 20+ titles a month that’s over a thousand+ dollars a year on floppies…not even calculating TPB and Omnibus picked up. I have been a Marvel fan since the early 1970's, and I am horrified by the direction Marvel has went in the past few decades, and what they have done to my favorite characters. These days, I just buy Marvel Epic Collections and Omnibus books of stories from the 1960s-1991. That is the Marvel Universe that I love. There are more than enough classic stories to last my lifetime.

I really like this RUclips channel because so many others, other channels or the community within a channel, are people who clearly don't enjoy comic books - they only very specifically like comic books printed in the 1990s and can't seem to verbalize that. And they talk about how the comic industry is dying, and to be very clear they've been saying this for years and years, so how do we keep getting comics on Wednesdays If it's supposed to be dead?

There are definitely issues with modern comics putting “message” over story. There are still many great comics coming out every week. Comics are better overall than they have been in years in my opinion. Image comics has been knocking it out of the park lately. We don’t need to convince ourselves we like things we don’t, just focus on all the stuff we do. There is always more to discover, or even create!

It's the fans fault for not liking the forced woke ideology forced into everything by activists who think the stuff that came before them is problematic and no longer allowed. Maybe if everyone started pointing their fingers in thr right direction things will eventually change or just consume the next thing and shut up if u hate it. Some of you are just reality deniers because it's easier then taking a stand for the truth

The price and quality of the books is the reason. I know I'm not alone as multiple LCS owners have told me they order very few new books as they don't sell.

I think a lot of it is frustration with the editorial choices in the major titles. I think we see this with newer titles like Rook Exodus where it’s obvious the creators are fully realizing their vision. Long time comic fans like myself find it very frustrating that our beloved characters and titles are being hamstrung and butchered by editors and business people whose agenda and bottom line are more important that the artists and readers.

I started reading comics around 8th grade im 22 now a still love them I love to escape into the comic world what about everyone else

I will continue to read and collect ASM and Ghost Rider as long as i live. Comics by DWJ and Ryan Stegman as well, Through thick and thin.

I try to stay positive and focus on the books I like, but after paying $6 for 30 pages of poor art and bad story on a character I love it does take a toll. Story and art are not 100% subjective. I think it would help to hear the big titles (ex: ASM Batman) that fail on certain levels acknowledge that failure publicly and give direction for the future.

When I see those types of videos i can’t help but think of the simpsons comic book guy… worst comic book ever

Who is giving threats? Where is the evidence of what you say. If people can talk about how they don't like a comic then they should be able too. If your feelings are hurt by a stranger on the internet maybe don't ever leave your safe space because the real world doesn't care about your feelings. The idea is to change things and have better books written by better writers not the time and time again horrible writers who keep getting more books. Sounds like you guys are the ones crying because reality is hitting u in the face

I look at comics just I do with sports. We love some, and we hate some, but in the end, we will always be fans. No matter how bad the quality can be, we never will stop !

I don't mind a bad review of a comic book. As long as they explain why so I can figure out if I still would like it. What I don't like is a comic book review devolving into "All comics are bad these days" And then a bunch of complaints about what creators have said on twitter and such

Well, I guess it's there's thing I really liked and I just want it back. Like Spidey being with MJ, though personally I liked it when the pheromones made him and Silk bang. Here's a thing if we all drop the books that are no longer delivering they will get cancelled and will never get better. Creators need to respect continuity. We dont expect to much because they are to damn expensive.

I saw youtube channel where they chopped up and destroyed a comic. I used to subscribe to that channel for reviews But I often disagreed with their reviews and destroying a comic is too much

I’m relatively new to comics (started in December last year) and a problem I saw pretty early on is that by and large the majority of books coming out these days are just ok and you can take or leave them. There’s some exaggeration about everything being terrible/unreadable from people that profit off of negative reviews, and I definitely don’t see it as being that dire. But there’s definitely not a lot coming out that you NEED to read from the big two. Now as to her question about why people buy books they don’t like, there are plenty of reasons. Loving the characters and wanting to keep up with them despite the quality, maintaining their collection, habit, holding out hope it’s going to get good, etc. And sometimes you drop a book only to hear the problem you had with it was resolved in the next few issues. Happened to me with Kneel Before Zod haha.
